What are natural fat burners?
Natural fat burners are also known as regular fat burners. They are dietary supplements for weight loss that can be sold freely because they do not contain any problematic ingredients. In animal experiments with mice, it did cause a significant reduction in body fat [1], and human studies also showed a significant positive effect on lipid metabolism. However, more recent studies also suggest a certain impairment of the hypothalamic-pituitary-thyroid axis [2]. In other words: L-thyronine can probably be used to burn fat quite effectively – but this can lead to a negative feedback effect on the endogenous production of thyroid hormone. Therefore, fat burners containing 3,5-diiodo-L-thyronine cannot be classified as fat burners without side effects.
Losing weight with fat burners: What can you expect?
In any case, it's no surprise. Regular fat burners or natural fat burners can increase the fat burning rate – but firstly, only if fat burning is actually taking place (i.e., when the body needs to mobilize fat reserves for energy), and secondly, even with fat burners, the fat burning rate doesn't increase dramatically. Belly fat or hip fat won't melt like butter in the sun.
To illustrate: With a normal weight-loss diet, where the calorie deficit is moderate (at around 500 kcal/day), you can lose about 1 pound of body fat per week over the long term. A little more at first, then a little less later. After 10 weeks, you would have lost 5 kg of body fat. If you use natural fat burners, the fat loss rate increases by perhaps 20 percent. The spectrum of side effects of natural fat burners depends on their composition.
Natural fat burners without caffeine and without 3,5-diiodo-L-thyronine have virtually no side effects, except perhaps heartburn and mild nausea when taken on an empty stomach.
Fat burners containing caffeine can cause typical caffeine side effects, such as heart palpitations, mild dizziness, restlessness, finger tremors, and difficulty falling asleep. Caution is also advised with products that contain synephrine (a plant compound found in bitter orange and chemically related to ephedrine) in addition to caffeine: synephrine and caffeine both affect the cardiovascular system.
